Nepal’s first Flying Classroom is an ambitious initiative aimed at introducing students to practical aviation education and inspiring them to explore careers in aviation and STEM fields. This project seeks to provide hands-on learning experiences, connect students with industry professionals, and create pathways for future opportunities in aviation—a sector that remains largely untapped in Nepal’s educational landscape.
Progress to Date:
While this is a highly ambitious project and we are still in the early stages, we have been actively working to mobilize locally available resources and expertise to make progress. Despite the limitations, the following steps have been taken:
Partnerships and Collaborations: We have connected with local aviation experts, schools, and organizations to provide knowledge-sharing sessions and mentorship opportunities for students.
Awareness and Engagement: Students and teachers have been introduced to the concept of aviation education through workshops, discussions, and small-scale practical activities.
Resource Mobilization: We are leveraging local materials, community support, and volunteer expertise to create learning modules that bring aviation concepts to life in the classroom.
Challenges:
The project’s ambitious scope requires specialized equipment, trained instructors, and infrastructure that is currently limited in Nepal. This has slowed implementation, but it has also highlighted the immense potential for growth if additional support is made available.
Next Steps:
Expanding access to aviation resources and experts through further partnerships.
Organizing pilot sessions to give students hands-on exposure to aviation and STEM concepts.
Seeking additional funding and support to scale activities, including flight simulations, lab setups, and field visits.
Support Needed:
To achieve the vision of the Flying Classroom and reach more students across Nepal, we require more technical, financial, and volunteer support. Contributions from GlobalGiving supporters will directly help us provide students with the tools, mentorship, and experiences they need to explore aviation careers and STEM opportunities.
Conclusion:
Nepal’s first Flying Classroom is in its foundational stage, and while progress is incremental, the enthusiasm and interest from students and local communities are encouraging. With additional support, we can expand this initiative, transform aviation education in Nepal, and inspire a new generation of learners to dream beyond the classroom.
