Challenge

A massive flash flood surged through the Bhote Koshi river system on August 26, devastating communities in Nepal's Rasuwa district and downstream areas. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds remain unaccounted for. Homes, roads, bridges, power systems, and hydropower facilities have been damaged or destroyed, while severe weather and difficult terrain are complicating rescue efforts.

Solution

Your donation to GlobalGiving's Nepal Flood Relief Fund will provide local organizations with flexible funding to meet urgent needs, including search and rescue, emergency medical care, shelter, food, clean water, and other essential supplies. As needs evolve, the fund will also support longer-term recovery and rebuilding, especially for marginalized, remote, and hard-to-reach communities affected by the floods.

How Your Donation Will Be Used

When you donate to the GlobalGiving Nepal Flood Relief Fund, your donation will:

  • Help local organizations provide lifesaving emergency response, medical care, shelter, food, and clean water to survivors.
  • Reach communities most affected by the flooding, including underserved and hard-to-access areas.
  • Equip trusted local leaders with flexible funding, tools, and resources to support recovery, rebuild infrastructure, and strengthen resilience for the future.

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
