Hawai'i's vanishing native forests...

Planting in the forest in 2021

Aloha friends,

We at FTPF are concerned, as we're sure you are as well, with the fact that the native Hawaiian forests are disappearing...

Hawaii's native forests are biological treasures, sheltering more than 10,000 unique species while creating freshwater, diverting destructive run-off and sediment, and serving as a vital link to the survival of Hawaiian cultural practices. Yet, according to the Nature Conservancy, only 1% of state funding goes towards protecting these vital resources.

This is why we are committed to joining others in protecting Hawai'i Islands' last remaining lowland rainforest. Together with our partners at Malama O Puna and Hawaii Environmental Protection, we are propagating, growing, planting, and preserving some of the rarest forest trees in the world.

But we need your help. These trees are expensive--being both time- and labor-intensive to grow--yet serve as vital elements of the forest's ecosystem. If you are able, we ask that you consider donating today to help us reforest and replant rare and endangered trees in order to preserve these precious ecosystems for future generations.

Mahalo nui loa,

The FTPF team
