The NaijaCoder Summer Intensive 2024 was a resounding success, thanks to the support of our donors and partners. This annual program aims to empower young Nigerians with skills in the basics of algorthms and computer programming. The program brought together passionate learners and expert instructors in an engaging and transformative two-week experience. This year, we hope to expand our reach and deepen our impact, preparing a new generation for the opportunities of the digital economy.
Program Overview
Duration: August 11–23, 2024
Locations: Abuja (Olumawu School) and Lagos (University of Lagos AirLab)
Participants: 100 students aged 12–21
Focus Areas: Fundamentals of Algorithms, Robotics, Design Thinking
Instructors and TAs: A team of 15 experts, including alumni of Harvard, MIT, and local tech leaders
We have started raising funds for the 2025 camp via Microsoft Research in New England. We hope that we can raise some funds, through GlobalGiving, in 2025.
Anticipated Impact Metrics for 2025
>= 150 students trained across Abuja, Lagos, Kano
>= 50% female participation, reinforcing our commitment to gender inclusivity
>= 85% of participants reporting increased confidence in coding and problem-solving skills
100% transport subsidy approvals
