Dear Friends
Time has gone quickly since our GlobalGiving campaign in December to support our new project MoringAid. Thanks once again for all the support to our work. We thought we should give you an update on our progress with our Moringa Income generation project to help sustain our work at DARE Network.
At the beginning of 2021, we got to work. We were able to secure some second-hand equipment in excellent condition for a good price. We have a powder grinder, high power dehumidifier to help drying in the rainy season, capsule maker and bag sealer.
Our labour began by collecting Moringa branches from local gardens and forests. The Moringa was washed in a salt brine to clean it, then we dried the leaves in the shade over 2 days to quickly contain the nutrients. All done hygienically and safely. The big task was taking the leaves off the branches. Everyone pitched in for this. The next step was to double grind the dried leaves to make as fine a powder as possible. The powder has secured in sealed containers and placed in a dark room.
Our staff then got creative and designed labels for our product. We sourced eco-friendly packaging that keeps the Moringa fresh. An online webstore was then developed. We are now set up to sell our product locally to Thai people, to refugees in Mae La Camp and to all of you overseas who helped us get our project going. Once the bags and labels arrived we were able to package both the powder and the capsules. We hope you will check out the webstore and make your order soon! www.moringaidare.com
Next steps include hiring our Moringa Manager, making relations with more growers, planting trees in the refugee camps and promoting our new product.
Thanks so much again to you for getting us going.
