Providing access to Information Technology and developing marketable skills through Multimedia Computer-based training in developing countries like Haiti.
In Haiti, as in many developing countries, people fleeing poverty tend to migrate to urban areas that have no capacity to absorb them. The main reason for this exodus from the rural areas is the lack of adequate educational and economic opportunities. For the town of Leogane, Haiti, our project will provide access to unlimited educational resources via the Internet. It will improve the quality, efficiency, and coverage of education as well as improve language, writing, and technical skills.
This project will use solar-powered wireless Internet communication infrastructure to provide computer-based interactive training in traditional academic areas such as language and math as well as business and vocational training.
This project will leverage modern information and communication technologies to provide skills training, knowledge transfer, access to self-help learning opportunities to over 100,000 people in a rural area of Haiti.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
