A study was conducted by CSA with the approval of Directorate of Women and Child Development in the year 2016 to identify children without parental contact living in the Child Care institutions in Goa. During the study, it was identified that around 100+ children who were found without any parental contact (Orphan/ Abandoned/ Surrendered) are living in CCI’s (Child Care Institutions).
The Child Welfare Committee in South Goa has proceeded with the further investigation and found 22 adoptable children living in different CCI's in south Goa. As part of declaring these children legally free for Adoption, a photo publication of these 22 children was done in April 2018. Such an initiative needs to be continued and adoptable children from CCI's needs to be brought into the Adoption system. This is a huge task which requires constant effort, follow-up, and commitment from all stakeholders. This round table deliberation will help us to create the synergy among the stakeholders to achieve the goal which is of common interest.
CSA along with Child Welfare Committee has collected the data of these 116 children and is in process to organize preparation workshop to prepare them for adoption. We are also planning to organize pre-service training workshop for the parents by preparing them for addressing the challenges towards fostering or adopting an older child.
The work is already in progress and we are hoping to organize a second round table conference soon.
