Thank you for being a close friend of Motivation and a supporter of independent living for wheelchair users in Romania! We are happy to know that you also believe, like we do, that freedom of movement is essential in the life of each of us. Through all our programs, we strive to give back mobility and independence to the people with disabilities who ask for our help.
When someone dear, family or friend, lose their mobility, their world and the world of those around them goes suddenly dark. The beginning of life in a wheelchair is painful, and requires a lot of support.
Motivation provides the necessary help, through personalized wheelchairs and independent living training. The children and adults who come to our programs return home to their lives, using wheelchairs. They go back to school, to work or shopping, meet friends, live their lives like each of us do. To each, Motivation gives guidance and support for a life of achievements.
Watch this video, where people we`ve helped talk about how an appropriate wheelchair TRULY CHANGED THEIR LIVES! Since my last letter, donations on GlobalGiving gave back mobility and personal independence to five wheelchair users.

Dear friend,
Fall has come once again. Light is fading, leaves on the trees are delighting us in their beautiful colors, but are subtly letting us know that it will not be long before the simple colors of winter take over. Cold is creeping in, helping us appreciate more the coziness of indoors or the joy of warming up through movement.
The joy of movement is something I want to talk to you about in this letter. For many of us, this is a given, should we decide to take up the challenge or the change of routine, but for the children and adults with mobility disabilities served by Motivation, movement is a gift which is only made possible with the appropriate mobility equipment. And this is what we do together, you and us – giving the gift of movement, one person at a time, through the Wheelchair Fund.
In this letter, I introduce to you Ionut, who lost his mobility in a car accident, in 2019. His journey was bumpy, but finally we found the right mobility equipment for him. Read how the right equipment, together with the independent training provided by Motivation, brought Ionut back on the road towards freedom of movement!

I hope the summer is going well for you, with good weather, productive days and quiet evenings with friends and family. I am happy to come back to you mid-summer with fresh news from Motivation`s Wheelchair Fund:
By the end of June 2022, 6 children or adults regained their mobility thanks to YOU, through the Wheelchair Fund on GlobalGiving. This year alone, Motivation`s Wheelchair Fund helped 531 children and adults with donations of appropriate mobility equipment. One of them is Luca-Timotei, whose photo speaks of the pure childhood joy made possible through the gift of movement.

Dear friend,
We are navigating difficult times: looking forward to the end of the two-year pandemic yet worried about the onset of the war in Ukraine. At Motivation Romania, we are continuing to address the needs of wheelchair users throughout Romania, through the Wheelchair Fund, while also sending mobility equipment to our borders with Ukraine, or to Romanian organizations welcoming refugees who have left their mobility equipment behind!
In 2021 Motivation`s teams helped change the lives of 919 children and adults with mobility disabilities through the Wheelchair Fund – 11 were made possible by GlobalGiving donors!
In 2022, by end of February, Motivation helped 165 people with disabilities with donations of appropriate wheelchairs, of which 4 with the help of GlobalGiving donors.
These achievements were only possible with your help and that of all Motivation friends. You all joined hands, and resources, across Romania and internationally, to support Motivation in our work to give back mobility through donations of appropriate wheelchairs to those who need them to regain their personal independence.
Thank you, on behalf of each child and adult who received a wheelchair donation, for the gift of mobility which YOU made a reality!

Dear friend,
Can you believe how time flies? There I was, in July, writing you the first update on the 2021 Wheelchair Fund, and now we are already in mid-November, so close to the year`s end!
In July, I was happily reporting that we had re-started our wheelchair donations and independent living training activities for children and adults with mobility disabilities in Romania. Now I have more good news to share about our programs:
- at the end of July, we opened our newest wheelchair accessible camp – this time, a summer tent camp near our headquarters in Bragadiru. In July-September, the new camp hosted 15 wheelchair users at peer group trainings and other activities and we look forward to a summer full of wheelchair skills trainings in 2022.

- during July – September, Motivation donated 169 wheelchairs, for a total of 662 lives changed for the better in 2021 through the Wheelchair Fund. Granny Veta is one of them. Read her story here and see how a wheelchair can brighten up one`s world!

As a close friend of Motivation Romania, I thought you would enjoy our three good deeds challenge to #changeslives for the better:
1. Start the month of giving by turning your gift into a recurring donation to the Wheelchair Fund 2021. This will increase the impact you make on the lives of Romanian wheelchair users.
2. End this good day by inviting at least five friends or family to give to the Wheelchair Fund 2021. Motivation Romania will turn these donations into gifts of mobility for children and adults with disabilities who need wheelchairs.
3. On November 30 this year, join Motivation Romania for a new round of GivingTuesday. Spread the word, make a gift to the Wheelchair Fund on GlobalGiving, and your gifts have the chance to be matched by GlobalGiving and thereby increase their impact. Stay tuned, as I will come back with details on that, soon!
