Dear Friend,
Can you believe it? We are nearing the middle of 2026 already! How time flies by when you focus on changing lives!
This year, your support already helped 4 people with disabilities become more independent.
Qamar’s wheelchair represents her gateway to independence, exploration, and childhood experiences that every child deserves. It supports her physical development as well as her joyful and adventurous spirit, which has deeply touched everyone in the Motivation team.
Qamar is a 3-year-old girl born in 2022 with complex congenital malformations, including the absence of lower limbs, partial absence of her left forearm, and malformations of her right hand. Despite these significant challenges, Qamar is a curious and joyful child who loves to play and explore the world around her.
She and her family are from Gaza, but currently live in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. She lives with her parents and baby brother in an apartment building that presents accessibility barriers, including stairs at the entrance. Before receiving a wheelchair, Qamar’s mobility was extremely limited. She was carried everywhere by her parents, often transported in a baby carrier. At home, she could only move by dragging herself on certain surfaces, which restricted her independence and ability to explore.
Her family learned about Motivation through the Bucharest Immigration Office, and she was later provided with an active Panthera Bambino wheelchair, adapted for one-handed use, along with training for both her and her family.
From the very first moment, Qamar instinctively understood how to use her wheelchair. She quickly began moving independently around her environment, exploring spaces that were previously inaccessible to her. Most importantly, she can now go outside and play in the park, something that was nearly impossible before.
Although there was a language barrier with the family, as they are Arabic speakers from Gaza, their gratitude and joy were clearly visible. Qamar herself expressed her excitement in the simplest and most genuine way, calling her wheelchair “caruta” (little cart) — perhaps the most precious “toy” she has ever received.
Just like Qamar, thousands of other children and adults in Romania still dream to be independent, to have freedom of movement and to achieve their dreams. We WILL be here to help each of them do so!
It would have been impossible to give Qamar mobility, self-confidence and opportunities to discover her abilities, had we not had by our side people like you, who understand that we are stronger together.
Continue to give back hope and freedom of movement to children and adults with mobility disabilities through the Wheelchair Fund!
Gratefully yours,
