The 8th study tour was held from March 21st to 25th. It was the first time to take part in “Holi” festival during the tour. Every year Holi is held on the day at full moon in March.People make lots of colored water like red, yellow and green, and splash those on each other.Only in this festival, Indian people do not need to care the caste system; they are allowed to splash on the higher caste. Our 11 participants were very excited to enjoy Holi, in which they do never have such an interesting experience in their mother country, Japan.
Of course, we visited Mother Baby School. The participants have relationships with students by making hats for carnival and bowling tournament.
One day in April, Mother Baby School started a new class that teachers had planed very elaborately: Computer class! We managed to get two computers. When those computers were put on the desk in our school for the first time, students looked at them curiously. Before using that, they learned about the basics. It must be very difficult for students to understand that because of lots of technical terms students have never heard, but they tried hard to understand it. After that, the teacher let them type their own name on the computer, but no one tried to touch the keyboard because they feared that they broke it. Finally every student typed each name and became completely satisfied. From the new semester after summer vacation, computer class is supposed to be a compulsory branch. We are going to spend more time in teaching computers.
Do you know why recently IT industry has progressed remarkably in India? Almost all of the IT companies in the world hire the Indian. From the time immemorial, Indian people are good at mathematics and discovered decimal system and the concept of zero. They have good memory so it is usual to know multiplication between one times table and twenty by heart. In India, even though the caste system was already abolished in the constitution, they cannot choose their jobs regardless of the caste. However, IT industry have progressed after the system was abolished, so it is not decided which caste engage in; everyone can do. So various people engaged in this job and IT industry developed.
Computer class is very important for the students. In the future, we will install the Internet and want the children to get variety of knowledge.
