This project supports a mobile bakery and community shelter in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, providing 4,000 loaves of bread daily, shelter and meals for 300 people, and 500 hygiene kits for displaced women and children. It addresses urgent food, hygiene, and protection needs while boosting local resilience and dignity for over 200,000 vulnerable people affected by war.
Due to the war in Ukraine, thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, children, elderly, and persons with disabilities face daily struggles with food insecurity, lack of shelter, and minimal access to hygiene or psychosocial support, especially in near-front zone, like Mykolaiv region. Despite IBC's effort, ongoing conflict, logistical challenges, and reduced aid funding have left our community shelter and mobile bakery at risk of shutting down.
In Mykolaiv the project will provide 4000 loaves of bread daily to vulnerable populations though a mobile bakery; support smooth operation of our community center where people(300 people daily) can get hot meals, shelter, electricity, water and psychological help(group and individual); provide 500 dignity kits with menstrual items, soap, diapers, underwear for displaced women and children; coordinate with local NGOs and authorities for sustainable and targeted distribution
The project will address food insecurity, improve hygiene, support mental health, and restore dignity directly reaching 215,000 individuals, with nearly 300,000 more benefiting indirectly. By retaining staff and sourcing locally, the initiative will help stimulate the regional economy. Moreover, effective coordination with local NGOs, community leaders, and authorities will strengthen collaboration and foster lasting trust within the community.
