Micro-credits for Baru Island entrepreneurs

Dear Donors,

This is our last report of the year. Once again we would like to thank you for your generous donations in 2016 through Global Giving to the Project “Micro-credits for Baru Island entrepreneurs.

Thanks to all the donations received through all the year and to the beneficiaries’ commitment we have schedule a new invitation to the entrepreneurs interested in participating in the project, in order to grant new microcredits to those that complete the process.

We are currently working with 12 businesses with an average income of $450.000 each. 27 new jobs have been created. This has certainly impacted the local economy.

The entrepreneurs have shown a good behavior in terms of managing their businesses. The Foundation has continued to visit them and to give them various tools to help them.

In this last report we would like to tell you a bit more about Sergio, one of the last beneficiaries selected, who lives with his wife Dunia and a grandson he is raising.

Sergio has a small business in an Island hotel in which he sells handcrafts that he personally makes.

During the tourist season, he hires local young men to help him.

Sergio is friendly and spontaneous. Because of his outgoing personality he makes good money with his business.

This is all for now. It has been a great year for us in the Hernan Echavarria Foundation, having the opportunity to help all this entrepreneurs improve their businesses and their income. We hope to keep counting with your support.
