A family business: Yoleida's testimony
"Today, I remember with melancholy the days when we were living in our house made of wood and a zinc roof, in which when it rained, we had to wake up in the middle of the night to cover the leaks and secure our things, so that they would not be damaged. There were long days and dark nights that I spent alone with my children, because of a family problem that kept my husband away from home for 4 years. During those days, I thought a lot about what I was going to do to raise my children and how I could strengthen my business in the middle of a Pandemic.
In my store, I only had a shelf and a refrigerator with few products to offer, but every day I got up with the best attitude to serve my clients and at night, my children stayed by my side until very late, as we had the opportunity to sell more, because the other businesses closed earlier.
I woke up every morning imagining the house I wanted to build and the big business I wanted to have. That was my biggest dream, so that we could improve our quality of life, as my business was the only source of income I had.
Today, I have fulfilled my dream of having a big house without leaks, a business with many products to offer and a son about to graduate as a professional in Hospitality and Tourism. Today, I can say: we did it! And this, because I tried hard, because I was a warrior (as my children tell me) and because my children adapted to the conditions in which we lived and patiently accompanied me in the process, without many demands or pretensions.
Today, I feel happy because I have taken advantage of the microcredits that I have accessed to expand my business; because I have made the most of the support and guidance the project has provided to me; because I have always attended my customers with my best smile, and because the “Hermanos Castro” store is an example of a family business".
