There is a big renovation going on at DAKTARI. Thanks to your generous support, the meerkats enclosure was updated with enrichment.

The overall goal is to improve our animals’ environment and care based on their natural behavior and instincts. The enrichments are physical habitat and food enrichment: the aim is to prolong feeding time and stimulate their hunting instinct.

The meerkats play a large role in the children’s education about the environment and they like to greet the new children by climbing on their enclosure.

Thank you for supporting our meerkat, we greatly appreciate it!

Kinds Regards,

The DAKTARI Team

Hello,

Welcome to DAKTARI’s meerkat newsletter!

Our meerkats are doing great and have had a big update to their diet! Rather than eating so much fruit they are getting a lot more insects and meat to keep them healthy and happy.

We had quite a few meerkats join the DAKTARI family in 2017. Unfortunately, people keep them as pets and then often give them away when they are fully grown and start to bite. Due to their lack of survival skills, many of the meerkats are then unable to survive in the wild so we try and give them the best life possible whilst in captivity!

Our new animal assitant Marina has got some great ideas for enrichment to keep the meerkats stimulated and active!

A very big thank you from the meerkats and everyone at DAKTARI for your generosity and support!

Welcome back to DAKTARI's newsletter!

Good news, the Meerkats are healthy and happy.

We are always keeping them on their toes by doing new things and keeping it fresh for them, we’ve just included an assault course with further enrichment to keep them entertained.

Recently with the rainy season approaching us, we’ve added some safety features to the enclosures of the Meerkats, including:

  • More shelter within the enclosures
  • An extended roof to shield them from the weather
  • Trees logs and rocks for some new scenery

DAKTARI thanks you for your continued support throughout the year. Without your help we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Welcome back to our DAKTARI Report.
We've had some exciting news, we believe some of the Meerkats to be pregnant, love is in the air...

All your support helps us to rehabilate, love and release these animals.

BREAKING NEWS:

Please send help! Our Meerkats have escaped and are staging a coup, they’ve taken several hostages!

I’ve never seen Meerkats brandish knives and their foul language would make a sailor blush.

Their demands;
A monthly donation to fund their Starbucks coffee
A spaceship out of here with safe passage.

Otherwise every hour they will pee on a volunteer.

Watch our video below for more details!
