The hot season in Thailand with a little bit of rain is a breeding ground for viruses and infections. This month many of our children have had a skin infection which has required many trips to the doctor and ointments and creams. Some of the children living with us have been rescued from trafficking which means they have no ID card and this also means that they do not have access to medical care at a discounted rate as do Thai children.
We got a call late at night about a 13 year old who was trying to sell food in the bar areas. One of the bar owners informed us that she was covered in bruises and had been severely beaten by the lady who was forcing her to sell the food. If she did not sell enough food, she was beaten. We were able to get her rescued within hours and an important part of the investigation is getting a medical certificate. Instead of waiting for hours at a local hospital, terrified, we were able to get her immediate treatment. She is now doing well in a BKK home and the police are pressing charges for abuse and human trafficking.
It is also time for vaccinations and we have made sure all of our children are update with these.
Thanks so much for all your support.
Margie
