Embarking on a mission to empower underprivileged rural school children, our program serves as a transformative gateway into the digital world, offering avenues for self-expression through creative and unconventional learning approaches. Focused on imparting crucial media literacy skills, we guide these young minds to engage with various forms of media, providing them with the tools to articulate their thoughts in insightful and imaginative ways. By encouraging the creation of their own media, we not only foster a sense of empowerment but also amplify the often unheard voices of India's underprivileged youth. This initiative, designed to transcend boundaries, seeks to bridge the digital gap, ensuring that every child can effectively communicate and contribute meaningfully to the evolving landscape of media expression. Through this program, we aspire to create a platform where the unique experiences of underprivileged youth are shared, celebrated, and recognized on a broader scale, fostering inclusivity and empowerment.
Kala Kootami:
During October, we curated the Kala Kootami art and creativity fair at DNTW School in Somapuram. The event garnered enthusiastic participation from 52 Young Instructors, 27 teachers, and 1607 children representing 30 schools. Serving as a nexus for artistic exploration, the fair became a vibrant platform, fostering collaboration and community involvement. By engaging diverse participants, it not only celebrated creativity but also enriched the educational experience, creating an inclusive space where the realms of art and learning seamlessly converged.
Sessions for Cohort-II:
In the academic year 2023-24, our commitment to nurturing creativity expanded as we selected 300 children from 9 schools for Cohort-II of the MediaArts program. This marked a substantial increase from the previous cohort, which impacted 186 children. This growth not only demonstrates the program's evolving success but also underscores our dedication to broadening the reach of innovative educational initiatives, providing more students with the opportunity to explore and express themselves through the captivating realm of MediaArts.
Special Activities and Sessions:
Conducting enlightening sessions at RV College, Bangalore, and Shiv Nadar School, Delhi, we immersed 38 B.Ed students and teachers in the nuances of stop-motion animation. This transformative experience sparked the creation of nine captivating animations, each delving into unique themes. The impact extended as MediaArts Lab instructors actively participated in a science fair at PES School, Chittor. Here, they showcased remarkable student productions and conducted film screenings, providing a compelling illustration of the intersection between creativity and science, fostering an environment where innovation seamlessly converges with the principles of scientific exploration.
