Mitzvah Day Gift Giving
By Sally Korkin | Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation
It’s that time of year when the Chanukah and Christmas fairies descend upon Cedar Village to grant special wishes to the residents living in healthcare and the rehabilitation units of our retirement community. Each year as a part of the annual Mitzvah Day tradition, residents are surprised with a gift that they expressed as something special.
Whether it’s a cherished CD of jazz music or an electric toothbrush, each gift is meticulously sought after. It’s an amazing feeling to see the expression on these residents’ faces as they unwrap their special something.
It’s because of the generosity of donors like you that Cedar Village is able to provide these extra added acts of kindness to our residents. It is our goal to fulfill the lives of our residents while granting wishes. And for Mitzvah Day, this annual tradition is it!

Well, it’s that time of year and we are planning a day of fun when the Bengals meet the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, November 13th or the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, November 20th. If you’d like to weigh in on which game they should attend, email your response to jcarlson@cedarvillage.org. Stay tuned for the recap of our Second Annual Cedar Village Game Day Extravaganza!
It’s because of the generosity of donors like you that Cedar Village is able to provide these wonderful outings to sporting events, operas and other performing arts programs. It is our goal to fulfill the lives of our residents while granting wishes. And for sporting fans, this annual trip is it!

Nelson's Thank You for His New Computer
By Sally Korkin | Executive Director

Up until one special day in Spring, Nelson was typically seen in the main library at Cedar Village, a retirement community located in Mason, Ohio everyday shortly after lunch to surf the web.
On this particular day, Nelson was surprised with a brand new computer which was made possible by the generosity of donors through the “Making Dreams Come True” initiative. Below is the thank you letter from Nelson. Enjoy!
Dear Friends from Making Dreams Come True,
I would like to thank you for the wonderful Dell computer. The computer and I have become inseparable. I spend a lot of time with the computer surfing the internet or playing games. The way the computer is set up, it can give your health information or take you to a faraway land. I particularly love to play solitaire on the computer. It also allows me to keep in touch with friends and relatives. I had a computer before coming to Cedar Village, but it was sold when I became a permanent resident. It had been my dream to get another one for 2 years. Needless to say, I am very grateful to have my own computer, let alone a Dell computer. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart for your most gracious gift.
Yours truly,
Nelson
