One Heart Worldwide (OHW) transforms Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) in underserved areas of Nepal. We envision a future where every mother and newborn receives high-quality healthcare, regardless of their circumstances. Since 2010, OHW has ensured access to quality MNH services to over 1.8 million mothers and newborns across Nepal. In 2026 alone, we expect that 370,000 women and newborns will benefit from our programs.
Each year in Nepal, 800 women and 11,000 newborns continue to die from preventable causes during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Access to quality healthcare is a matter of life or death for mothers and newborns. In 2026 alone, we expect that 370,000 women and newborns will benefit from our programs. That's one-third of all pregnancies in Nepal.
One Heart Worldwide Mothers and their newborns are at the center of everything we do. But we also understand that it takes a village to keep them safe. That's why we work with every stakeholder who impacts mothers' and newborns' health to sustainably strengthen the local health system for generations to come.
In districts completing 5 years of our program, we have seen: (1) A 30% increase in the number of births attended by a trained healthcare provider; (2) 97% of municipalities we work with have committed MNH funds in their municipal budget; (3) A 315% increase in the number of birthing centers achieving the minimum quality score. By 2030, we will have provided 4.5 million mothers and newborns access to high-quality care.
