Wow, the fall has been quite busy for all involved in the Lynn Sage Foundation. As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As such, this is our busiest time of year to ask for support and spread the word on the vital importance of investing in groundbreaking breast cancer research. Fall is also a time for giving thanks, and we at the Lynn Sage Foundation want to take a moment to do just that.
This year we had over 150 Chicagoland restaurants participate in our Chicago's In Good Taste Campaign. Chicago diners were able to order special menu items to benefit breast cancer research at restaurants including the Francesca's Restaurants, Tavern on Rush and John's Place. Others participating restaurants such as LuxBar, The Four Seasons and Quartino offered specialty drinks with proceeds benefiting the Lynn Sage Foundation. While numbers are not in yet, this is our largest fundraising initiative of the year and we cannot be more thankful to the Chicago restaurant community for their continued support.
We were also fortunate this October to be a part of Five Seasons Sports Clubs first annual 5K run. This fun, family friendly, event was the perfect way to get some fresh air, exercise and kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
To wrap up the month (we said it was a busy time), Benchmark, a local hot spot in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood, hosted a party at the end of the month. Here we held our inaugural auction and donors had the opportunity to mix, mingle and bid, bid, bid.
As if that weren't enough, on November 14th the Lynn Sage Foundation was one of three beneficiaries of The Merchandise Mart's CHILL event. 2000 people came out to sample food from local chefs, taste wine and check out some of the incredible showrooms at the Mart. We can't say thank you enough to all our supporters and the team at the Merchandise Mart for making this event so incredible.
While we have so very much to be thankful for, there is still much work that needs to be done.
One great way to support the research necessary to change these trends is through a GlobalGiving donation before the end of the year or The Lynn Sage Foundation's Cards For a Cure. Send love, encouragement and well wishes to someone's inbox, and you'll also contribute to finding a cure for breast cancer.
During this holiday season, we say thank you to all of our partners, supporters and well-wishers. We also hold out hope for a healthier 2014.
Wishing all the very best,
Laura and Halee Sage
