Your ongoing support is helping us answer the call to support and shift power back to those affected by relationship abuse. This fall (Aug-Oct, 2016), Loveisrespect received 32,730 calls chats, and texts. Also, in 2016 LIR has received 120,575 contacts. However, due to lack of resources, LIR is only able to answer about 60% of teens and young adults who are seeking resources on healthy relationships.
We need your help so we can continue to make an impact in the lives of young adults.
Read how your gift is making an impact. Here is a story from one of our advocates:
"I worked today with a 19 year old that was starting to recognize her relationship was abusive. She was home for the summer and her boyfriend had been sending her texts calling her names, asking where she was all of the time, and threatening to ruin her life if she broke up with him.
Together, we identified that behavior as emotionally and digitally abusive. Then, we discussed what she wanted to do and how she could break up with him safely.
I connected her with local resources and we also talked about how she could access her title IX rights. We talked about documenting evidence and how she could take care of herself.
She thanked me for listening and for the new websites she could read through and resources she could reach out to."
