Last Christmas, Inspector Jeffery made a special Christmas wish.
He wanted nothing more than for Nellie - a dog he had just rescued - to wag her tail again and bring joy to a family that she could love unconditionally. A family who would love her too.
Nellie had been given away when her family emigrated - passed off to someone else like the rest of the goods they didn’t want anymore. But Nellie wasn’t a piece of furniture or an item of clothing. She needed love and care – and she didn’t get it.
When her mange became so severe that she smelled, itched and scratched, she was thrown away for a second time . . . dumped on the road to care for herself.
Nellie’s body was weak . . . her skin was raw . . . and her spirit was as broken as Inspector Jeffery’s heart. She had suffered a fractured foreleg at some time in her life, which had been left untreated. As a result, her one leg was crooked, giving her an odd little gait.
And yet, in spite of all the neglect that Nellie had suffered, the first thing she did when Inspector Jeffrey found her was lick his hand.
Nellie needed urgent veterinary care. And because you make Christmas wishes come true,we were able to give Nellie everything she needed to heal, and as long as it took to find her forever home.
This Christmas, Nellie will be nestled all snug in her bed, while visions of her family dance in her head. Please renew your support and help save another dog like her this Christmas?
This season brings us hope, joy, love and peace. But for the animals, it brings abandonment, fear, hunger . . . and suffering.
But your gift made now will ensure that we can be here for them every single day, through the holidays and beyond.
We need to keep our inspectors on the road so that they can reach all the animals that will need us. We need to keep our hospital stocked with veterinary supplies so that we can treat those who are injured and sick. And we need to keep our stores full of food so that we can feed the hundreds of animals that will come through our doors.
When Nellie wakes up warm in her bed this Christmas Day, she will have all she needs - thanks to the gift you gave her. You gave her health . . . restored her dignity . . . mended her heart . . . and made her whole. You gave her a family to love – a family that loves her.
Will you give the gift of love again this year, to save many other animals like Nellie?
We know for sure that we will have lots of little tummies to fill and many hearts to mend. With your donation, you can make their Christmas wishes come true!
Thank you sincerely,
