To educate 100 fishermen about sustainable fishing farming needs preparation and a sample fish farm as a prototype that can be implemented and sustained on a small scale to fully assess all the risks factors before a full scale farming is initiated!
In this regard a mini, fish farm was constructed on our school compound for demonstration and evaluation purposes
1.A 13ft x 14ft tapoline thank was secured and properly fenced
2. The thank was filled with treated water suitable for catfish
3. 5grams of One thousand catfish fingerlings was used to stock the pond
4.Fish feed was bought for feeding the catfish
5. so far the demonstration processes has been successful and we are now ready for further expansion
6. The catfish weighs between 50 to 90 grams! Within a few months they should be read for harvesting.
7. A number of students have been very excited about the project and are already talking about this to their parents and others in the community
we will keep updating you as and when we make progress
now all is set for further expansion but our Target goal have not been reached! Extra funding will help us reach our goal of bringing sustainable fishing into Akosua fishing community.
thank you all for your continuous support
