This report comes in the wake of a very exciting announcement for Shivia.
The 18th Annual Charity Times Awards were hosted in London on Wednesday 4th October and we were delighted that, for the third year running, Shivia was shortlisted for an award.
The largest event of its kind to honour UK charities and their supporters, the event brought together charities and organisations from across the sector to celebrate the success and impact of individual and collaborate work.
From a large pool of nominated charities in the International Charity category, we were shortlisted alongside three other charities - AfriKids, Interpal and Media Legal Defence Initiative.
It was an honour to be considered for this award by the panel of 12 independent judges and when we arrived for the ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster we already felt like winners. So it came as a genuine but very welcome shock to hear Shivia announced as International Charity for 2017. Click on the link below to see how we reacted at moment of winning.
We have received wonderful feedback from many supporters since the announcement, including this from Nishant Lalwani, one of our trustees:
"I cannot express how proud I am of Shivia and Olly Donnelly for this spectacular achievement. Charity Times recognised Shivia as the International Charity of the year 2017. As context, last year's winner was BRAC, the largest NGO in the world. Yes, seriously. What a well-deserved and wonderful thing this is. I am very proud to be on their board and am terrifically excited about the future of Shivia!"
We are all very proud of this accolade and recognition from within the charity industry but we could not have achieved the impact and results we were judged on without the support of our donors, friends and followers. We hope you will take a moment to watch our latest video from the field (see link below) which features a number of our beneficiaries from the Poultry Development Services programme and demonstrates the impact we are able to make on the lives of so many families with your generous support.
Thank you for your contribution to our success.
Best wishes from the Shivia Team
“Since these awards started, the first of their kind in the UK, we have seen dramatic progress in the sector, and it was no easy task for the judges to decide when the quality of entries has become so high, indeed making the shortlist is an achievement in itself and for that we congratulate you all."
