After the successful rescue and relocation of 4 lions in 2018 we are going to do it again. Four lions living in cruel or unsuitable conditions have been found in various facilities throughout Ukraine. They will be undertake the 70 hour trip to South Africa where they can lie in the African sun and walk on grass. They can for the first time in their lives be lions.
Eastern Europe have some very outdated regulations around the keeping of captive wildlife. In many instances animals have been kept in shocking circumstances with little regard for animal rights. As people have become more and more aware of this there is pressure on institutions to improve the circumstances of these animals. We work to rescue and relocate animals to have some quality of life.
We have been actively rescuing and relocating animals all over Ukraine. The long term solution is to raise awareness and educate people on these issues, some thing that we have been doing for some years. Ultimately we aim to end animal cruelty of captive animals through the removal of these animals and by changing the attitude of the public who support it.
In the 2019 UN report it, scientists state that there are 1 million species threatened with extinction. This required drastic action by humans everywhere. Rescuing these lions brings about trans-formative thinking in people who would not ordinarily been aware of this global issue.
