Dear friends,

We are having a great time here at LIN since the authorities have lifted the lockdown regulations, and our office is open to welcome all guests and supporters again. We are also grateful and can not wait to reveal the results of your contributions to the Covid-19 Response Community Fund as we wrapped up Phase 3.

Last September, we were worried that the fund could not reach the target, and the nonprofits that submitted their urgent response proposals would not receive sufficient support on time to help their people. Later that month, we had only reached 50% of the target. As the time was running out, members of the LIN team sat down together and decided to call for actions from our circles and LIN's networks. Each of us has reached out to our supporters in and out of Vietnam. We set up a microsite to spread the word about the fundraising campaign and send out newsletters. After we updated the latest news on GlobalGiving, we got your response right away. Many of you got back to us with your donations.

Together as one community, we have successfully raised 473,850,000 VND for the Covid-19 Response Community Fund Phase 3 2021, very close to 500,000,000 VND of the initial goal. It is a joined effort of our corporate donors from NFQ Vietnam, Schoolab, about 30 individual philanthropists, and other generous corporates. On October 11, we completed allocating the fund to 11 nonprofits (increased one more grantee compared to the initial plan), including:

1. Hoi tình nguyen Chung tay vì cong ong/ Join hand for the Community Volunteer Association - Food aid for Community

2. Liên minh Nhân ái/ Nhan Ai Alliance

3. Hoi Nguoi mù tinh Sóc Trang/ The Soc Trang Blind Association

4. Dich vu phiên dich Ngôn ngu ký hieu Nang Moi/ Nang Moi Sign Language Interpreting Service (NMSLIS)

5. To chuc Niem Tin/ Niem Tin Organization

6. Hoi Cha Me Tre Khiem Thính Viet Nam Vietnamese Association for Parents with Hearing loss Children (VNAP HLC)

7. Trung tâm Nâng cao Nang luc, Ho tro Phu nu và tre em/ Capacity Building Support and Center for Women and Children (CSWC)

8. CLB Ky nang song ong Nai/ Dong Nai Life Skills Club

9. Hoi nan nhân chat oc da cam/dioxin huyen Cu Chi/ Cu Chi Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin

10. Nhóm Sac Màu Cuoc Song/ Social Media Community Services

11. To chuc Phung su Cong ong Vu Võ Phuong Nam Vu Vo Phuong Nam Community Serving Organization (CVOVS).

We are thrilled at this number as we know the current situation is not easy for everyone to give away. This result means a lot to LIN and especially to our NPO partners that have their faith in the generosity of humans and the impact we can bring to the local people's lives.

Next step, we will continue to follow the projects of the 11 grantees and assist them in the transparent disbursement process. As usual, we will see the efforts of the community leaders and their achievements for the local people in their reports after six months of using the fund. After that, LIN will continue to support the grantees from Phase 1 to Phase 3 in operating sustainably and independently by providing them with a Fundraising Capacity Strengthening Program.

Once again, on behalf of the 11 grantees of Phase 3, we would like to thank you for all the efforts you have made for LIN's Covid-19 Response Community Fund. We are honored to be trusted by you. Let's keep holding hands through this pandemic.

We wish you and your loved one safety and health and a joyful year-end season.

With gratitude,

Lam Ngoc Thao

Dear friends,

As I'm writing to you, the authorities in Vietnam have extended lockdown for 2 more weeks, while the medical system across Vietnam is in fatigue. Until the fourth Covid-19 wave reached its peak, the NPOs supporting the most vulnerable groups are still facing many levels of risk.

However, many individuals from rural to urban have joined hands against all odds to support the people in need. Not all heroes wear capes, and we want you to know that you are one of them!

In the last quarter, your contributions have made huge impacts on the Covid-19 Response Community Fund so that LIN could launch the third round of grant allocation for the next group of nonprofits who are thriving through the pandemic time.

The social impact of your contributions can see clearly through the story of Ai Linh Love School - a school for special children living in poverty or with disabilities and also one of our grantees.

Back in August 2020, funding wages for teachers faced a huge shortage. Staff reduction and students dropping out became their top concerns. After submitting the proposal to the Covid-19 Fund, they successfully granted 50 million VND with facilitation from our LIN team. This amount helped them to:

  • Provide teachers with basic salaries;
  • Organize 01 training sessions for 20 teachers so their students can have better teaching and caring;
  • Guarantee 210 students to keep getting nutritious milk for their healthy development.

Thanks to your great support, the people of Ai Linh Love school now have achieved a stable state and have enough power to continue their meaningful journey.
From our side, we have received many compliments on the effectiveness of such a leading project in crisis response. That highly motivated us to set up for the 3rd funding round. Along with your donations, we are confident at distributing funds to at least ten more NPOs in this round. Soon, the latest proposal will be within your reach in the story section.
Until then, please stay safe and uplifting!

With gratitude,

Dear friends,

We still can't believe it has been nearly one year since we launched our Covid-19 Community Response Fund which raised fund to support local nonprofit organizations facing extreme difficulties during the outbreaks and social lockdown. Thanks to your generous donation and trust, we managed to raise enough fund during Phase 1 to support 10 local nonprofits with 50 millions VND per organization to stay survived and continue to support their communities during such challenging time.

We are very happy to share with you the full report  in Vietnamese here and English here from Phase 1 so you can see the impact you have created. We hope you know how essential it was to many nonprofits with the financial support in these times and we are glad that we could play a role to mobilize the resources to support them when they are in need.

And the good news doesn't stop there, early this year through a lot of hardwork from our team and continuing support from our partners, we successfully launched and funded 10 more local nonprofits with the Phase 2 of Covid-19 Community Response Fund which you now can read about it here

We feel really grateful for all the support and care from many great friends such as yourself to make this happen. Please keep in touch so we can share with you more updates about Covid-19 Community Response Fund in Phase 2. As I always strongly believe that when we come together, we can overcome any challenges!

In the meantime, please stay safe and well!

Warmest Regards,

Dear friends and supporters,

We hope you are well and safe wherever you may be.

We count ourselves very lucky to be in Vietnam at the moment, the country has controlled not only one, but three community outbreaks, the latest one happened in Ho Chi Minh city, just two weeks ago. We were very worried that we might have to go back to social lockdown again and many people will lose their job while Tet (Lunar New Year) is coming. Even though the outbreaks were controlled, there is a lot of work we still need to do to support the affected people from the pandemic, especially vulnerable communities to build back better with their lives. And that couldn’t be possible without local nonprofit organizations working tirelessly everyday to talk to the people and provide on-time support when needed.

And thanks to your generous donation, we were able to fundraise an enough amount to support a total of 10 local nonprofit organizations, equivalent to roughly VND 50 million per organization, including:

  1. The Centre for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  2. Tinh Than Program
  3. ICS
  4. Anh Duong Community Development and Support Centre
  5. Thien An Shelter
  6. Vava Cu Chi
  7. Huynh Tan Phat Foundation
  8. Knowhere Makerspace
  9. Soc Trang Province Club for the Disabled
  10. PFLAG

As we shared with you in the last report, we are going to work with the 10 nonprofits to evaluate the impact of the fund on the organization and their communities during the pandemic in the next couple weeks and will have many stories to share with you in the next report in March!

In the meantime, we are glad to quickly share with you one testimonial from Soc Trang Province Club for the Disabled, one of the NPOs received the funding in June:

“During the first social lockdown in April 2020, the income of people with disabilities households were severely affected, causing many households to stop working, some had to find any available temporary job and many households had to stop their own small business which is the main source of income for the whole family. The funding support from LIN's Covid-19 Response Community Fund came at the very right time, many households affected by social lockdown could receive the funding which help to maintain their economic activities to continue generate their own incomes, as a result, this has helped them maintain their lives and continue to participate in the activities of the Soc Trang Provincial Disability Club. This project has also greatly motivated members of the Club to continue their work and contribute to maintaining club activities.”, Nguyen Thanh Hoai, the President of Soc Trang Province Club for the Disabled

We are very happy that this initiative managed to support at least 10 local nonprofit organizations to not only continue their meaningful work and but also create impact on lives of the many local communities in Vietnam. Please stay tuned with more updates from us.

I do hope this shall pass soon with the good news on the vaccine, and we all can feel safe to go out, meet, connect with each other and do things out door again. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.

Once again, on behalf of the LIN team and 10 selected NPOs, we thank you for your generosity and kindness. Should you have any question or need any further information in the meantime, please do let us know.

With gratitude,

Dear friends,

I hope my message finds you safe and well, wherever you may be.

Three months after we introduced Covid-19 Response Community Fund, we have never imagined receiving such amazing support from the Community, and we are so touched to see many people such as yourself who give a hand wholeheartedly. Thanks to your generous donation and support, 10 local nonprofit organizations (NPOs) working tirelessly on employment, children, youth development and women causes, were able to receive this important funding support which play a significant role to help those organizations to carry on their operations and programs that serve those marginalized groups in their local communities in the next 6 months. This financial aid will somehow alleviate the burden of operational costs to sustain the organizations and resume their activities after the social lockdown.

Please click here to download our initial report of Covid-19 Response Community Fund with summary of our fundraising result, introduction of 10 NPOs receiving the fund and our criteria how to select these 10 NPOs. We will continue to follow up with these NPOs in the next six months to evaluate the impacts of this funding support on their organization and their work, we hope to have some great stories and photos to share with you by the end of this year too.

At this time when I am writing this report, Vietnam has entered to second wave of the pandemic after nearly 100 days without community cases. Danang, a central city in Vietnam has gone under strict lockdown from unknown source of Covid-19 cases started from three major hospitals in the city. Other cities and provinces are now again in a precarious status. We are also aware that the difficult times will not be over anytime soon, the social distance regulation doesn't allow any gathering more than 30 people and many people, activities are back to uncertain stage like before, that being said, we will need to continue remaining vigilant and resilient which helped Vietnam overcome the first wave of the pandemic.

I do hope this shall pass soon and we can feel safe to go out, meet, connect with each other and do things out door again. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy during this unprecedented time.

Once again, on behalf of the LIN team and 10 selected NPOs, we thank you for your generosity and kindness.

Should you have any question or need any further information in the meantime, please do let us know.

With gratitude,

Vo Ngoc Tuyen (Kelly)
