We are grateful for your continued support as our partner organizations work to expand opportunities for vulnerable women and youth across East and West Africa. Here is where things stand:
Brewaniase Vocational Training Centre, Ghana:
Construction is moving forward at VAO's training centre. After an initial delay in securing the required building permit from the Municipal Assembly, the project has since progressed steadily. Site clearing and preparation are complete, and the foundation works; including excavation, reinforcement, and concrete work have also been fully completed. Blockwork is now underway to raise the building's walls in line with the approved design. Sourcing enough sand and timber locally has occasionally slowed the pace of work, but VAO continues to coordinate closely with local suppliers to keep the project moving.
Funding from the Hendrik van Dijk Fonds, together with a contribution from VAO itself, has covered the initial stages of construction. VAO aims to reach the roofing stage by the end of September 2026, though rising costs mean additional fundraising will be needed to see the centre through to completion and full operation.
Phase 2 of the Youth Employment Centre (Pinasol), Ghana:
There has been no new progress on Phase 2 during this reporting period, as this component remains paused pending additional funding.
We remain grateful to our partners and supporters whose generosity keeps these projects moving. Your continued engagement and donations will help us push both the Brewaniase centre and Phase 2 of the Youth Employment Centre toward completion, bringing vocational training and economic opportunity to more women and youth in the region.
