We wanted to take this time to thank everyone who has made this project a success. We have been able to grow and allocate resources toward accomplishing our mission. However, we have a new and exciting project that needs your help.
This project has raised over $10,000 and we have helped hundreds of individuals in the Deep East Texas community with financial literacy. We have hired several new coaches, expanded into a new building, acquired new funding sources, and added a workforce development program throughout this project's life cycle.
Several of our funders are aware of our various projects. In an effort to give people an opportunity to support a specific program area, we have made the decision to focus create projects that are program specific. We humbly request the supporters of this project to support our newly launched community garden. The garden was launched by utilizing the Community Supported Agriculture model and is now called the Lufkin Urban Garden & Market.
The goal of the garden is to provide locally and organically grown produce to the community of North Lufkin. This areas has been designated by the United States Department of Labor as a food desert. This simply means that due to income and transportation constraints, produce is not readily available to the community. Typically, food should be accessible within a one to two-mile radius for low-income communities. Please consider joining us as we move into this next chapter of our progression.
