FROM LIVING IN THE COLD AND SHADOWS TO PAINTING RAINBOWS FULL OF COLORS

By Ana Palacio | Executive Director

For Mateo, 8 years old and with a heart full of dreams, his life has been a difficult path. Since he was very little, he lived abandoned on the streets, without a family to care for him, without a home where he felt safe. Every day, he sought refuge in dark corners and survived on what little he could find.

One cold night, huddled under a bridge, shivering with cold and fear, he felt someone gently approach him and offer him a blanket and something to eat. Mateo, initially distrustful, accepted the help, feeling for the first time in a long time a spark of hope.

The next day, he was brought to SUPERARSE, when he arrived, his eyes were filled with amazement. It was a bright place, with spaces to play and full of colors. But what impressed him most was the warmth with which he was received. The other children, each with their own story of pain and hope, greeted him with smiles and hugs.

At boarding school, Mateo met Samuel, a boy his same age who had also gone through difficult times. Samy showed him the library, where books became his favorite refuge. Together, they immersed themselves in magical worlds, traveled to distant places and dreamed of a better future.

Over time, Mateo began attending boarding school. His teachers not only teach him math and science, but they also show him that he is valuable and capable of achieving great things. Through art and music workshops, Mateo discovered his love for painting. Brushes and colors allowed him to express everything he had inside him, transforming his pain into beauty.

Life in the boarding home was not perfect, and Mateo still had days when the shadows of the past haunted him. But every day, he felt the unconditional support of his new friends and the SUPERARSE staff. He knew that he was no longer alone.

A year after his arrival, the boarding school organized an art exhibition featuring the children's works. Mateo, nervous but excited, showed his paintings. People were amazed by his talent and the depth of his works. Among the attendees, a couple approached him, moved by his story and his art. After the exhibition, they began to visit him regularly, sharing special moments and building a bond that over time became a family for Mateo.

Finally, Mateo is in the process of being adopted by the couple. Even though he left boarding school behind, he always carried in his heart the people who had welcomed him and helped transform his life. With his new family, Mateo will be able to find the home and love that he had always dreamed of. And although his path has been difficult, each step has led him to a place of hope and new beginnings.
