Dari suffers from leprosy and has been abandoned by her family. This is in violation of the Maputo Protocol Article 1(G ) which states "harmful practices and behaviour, which negatively affect the fundamental rights of women and girls, such as their right to life, health, dignity, education and physical integrity".
The Ark Foundation, Ghana launched an appeal to support 80-year-old Dari and her 13-year-old granddaughter who live in the Upper West Region of Ghana. Dari, who suffers from leprosy and had been neglected by her family and had very little support for her food and everyday needs.
Through your kind donations we have been able to raise $402 to provide some support for her. This money will provide meals for a month for Dari and her granddaughter and provide transportation for her from her home to the hospital also for a month. However, $402 is about 7% of the target funds. We hope to receive more donations to meet more of her needs.
