A volcano has erupted on the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, spewing lava from two fissures with eight mouths. This relief fund will support emergency aid like food, water, medicine, and shelter. After initial needs are met, the fund will transition to provide long-term assistance as needed. All donations to this fund will exclusively support relief and recovery efforts in the region.
Immediate relief efforts provided by this fund will ensure that survivors and first responders received critical resources, including food, housing, medical aid, water, and psychosocial care.
All donations to this fund will support the ongoing recovery and relief efforts for the volcanic eruption and related earthquakes in the Canary Islands. Initially, the fund helped first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, medical care, and shelter. If needed, this fund will then support longer-term recovery efforts run by local, vetted organizations in the Canary Islands.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
