Kicking off Hope this Holiday Season

As the holidays fill our hearts with warmth and reflection, I want to share something truly special with you. This season, Apne Aap celebrates the incredible stories of 50 young lives—40 brave girls and 10 boys—who have found strength, hope, and love through our education and Karate program.

These children have taught me so much about courage. Girls like Zainab Khatoon ( name changed), just 12 years old, have broken free from cycles of exploitation that generations before them couldn’t escape. With every Karate move she learned, Zoya gained the confidence to stand up against injustice—not just for herself, but for her mother too. Today, they’re building a dignified life together, filled with hope and possibility.

And then there’s Parvati Kumari ( name changed), a 13-year-old with dreams as bold as her kicks. She wants to become a Karate instructor, and seeing her thrive academically and in sports reminds me how vital it is to create safe spaces for kids to dream and grow. Gauri and Zoya are just two of the many children who are showing us what resilience looks like.

At Apne Aap, we’ve seen the difference that love and support can make. These kids aren’t just surviving—they’re thriving, excelling in school, and becoming leaders in their communities. The cheerful laughter at our center is proof of the safe space we’ve created together, a place where children can learn, play, and simply be themselves.

This holiday season, your belief in our work has brought so much cheer to these young lives. Thank you for being part of their journey. Together, let’s spread more love and hope—one kick, one dream, and one victory at a time.

You are the reason these stories are possible. Let’s keep the hope alive this holiday season.
