Dear Supporters:

The COVID-19 pandemic has been the defining global crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced. In 2021 JSIE continued its online programs “Global Career Series” and “Peer Roundtable discussion” for junior/high school students. Also, the summer program, which used to be held in person, was held online as “WISE Youth Global”, mainly for high school students. In 2022, we would like to take on new challenges while coexisting with the Covid. We plan new exciting programs. JSIE wishes all of you good health and happiness for the coming year!

Because of COVID-19, we postponed in-person WISE workshop to next year. WISE Program is designed to promote leadership creative thinking toward innovative solutions against various social problems and challenges. With your support, we are able to conduct high quality WISE workshop, bringing highly talented participants, great speakers and mentors.
We continue to support a project came out from WISE Kumamoto 2019 by WISE Associate Caitlin Puzzar. She is tackling abuse and bullying issues in Japanese schools. She is already conducting a pilot program at elementary & middle schools in Kumamoto. Caitlin's interview published by Beacon Report below (Ending Child Abuse in Japan by Beacon Report). To protect the physical and mental health and safety of children, we'd also greatly appreciate your financial support to "Stop Child Abuse and Bullying" project led by Caitlin. Your support will also help us to find future potential social entrepreneurs.
We will update on our activities and very grateful of your support. Please stay healthy and happy.
All the best,

Dear Supporters:

We are so grateful for your continued support. We have just finished holding online events to promote Youth and Women's Initiative for Sustainable Empowerment (WISE). This year we focused younger generations, 9-12 graders in the US and Japan to explore collaborative social innovation challenges.

WISE Youth Global is specially organized by JSIE to provide opportunity to young individuals for shaping ideas into actionable project plans. Participated 9-12 graders had virtual opportunity to work together with students from various locations to tackle social problems, including period poverty, food waste, child labor, depopulation, and gender unequality issues. Within the three-day workshop, students learned leadership styles through group works with people with diverse background. Thanks to online technology, we have invited great presenters from South Africa, Kumamoto and Boston to talk about their projects, and mentors to provide advice to students. It was our privilege to welcome Ms. Yuki Kondo-Shah from US Consulate in Fukuoka to share her experience.
We will update on our activities and very grateful of your support. Please stay healthy and happy.
All the best,
Hiromi Murakami

“Global Career Series” provides online learning opportunity to middle and high school students who are interested in paving their way through their future in the global world. It is an interactive educational program where participants can learn about professional work and experience from the people who are globally active in various fields and study-abroad life from the students studying at overseas universities. This program gives chance for students to ask the speakers questions directly. This gives students not only the opportunity to think about their future life planning but also vital knowledge that may help to navigate future global career.
