Thanks to the incredible support from generous donors, dedicated sponsors, and hardworking volunteers, we are thrilled to share the progress on the transformation of the old Baboon House into a state-of-the-art wildlife clinic and rehabilitation center.
The renovations have been nothing short of remarkable, with the facility now featuring a fresh coat of paint, new doors, and a solar electricity installation, making it more environmentally friendly. While the center is not yet fully operational, we have been actively engaged in wildlife assistance in the surrounding area.
Currently, our focus is on the next phase of the project, which involves erecting a security fence around the perimeter of the center and replacing the outdated septic tank system. These crucial steps are essential for creating a secure and efficient environment for the animals under our care.
Despite the ongoing construction, our dedicated team has not wavered in their commitment to helping wildlife in distress. A recent case involved two Hadeda hatchlings that fell from poorly constructed nests, leaving them unable to be reunited with their parents. The Kogelberg Biosphere Wildlife rescue team stepped in to serve as surrogate parents until the hatchlings could fend for themselves.
The final stage of their rehabilitation was expertly managed by Erna Odendaal, a trained and experienced rehabber. Erna continues to monitor their progress post-release, ensuring a successful transition to the wild. We are delighted to share a heartwarming update from Erna, who provided an incredible photo of the two once-vulnerable hatchlings, now fully grown and seamlessly integrated into a wild flock.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this transformative project. Your support is making a lasting impact on the lives of these animals, and we look forward to updating you on further successes in the near future.
Thank you for being a vital part of our mission.
