Help build the new Kimbilio Day Centre - Stage 1

For a child surviving on the streets, isolation is a daily reality. They completely lack the safety and warmth of a home environment. We break down these walls by bringing children together over a hot, nutritious meal. Sitting down to eat replicates the comforting ritual of a family dinner table. It allows them to drop their guards, laugh, and build trust creating a vital family atmosphere where they finally feel they belong.

While we do what we can, we currently share our space, which limits our support. Building our new Multipurpose Day Centre will change everything, allowing us to do this on a much bigger and better scale. This dedicated sanctuary will feature a purpose-built kitchen and dining area, ensuring we never have to turn a hungry child away and can deliver comprehensive care under one reliable roof.

Hi, Thank you so much for your financial support for this Kimbilio Project to create a Day Centre with improved facilities for children living on the streets of Lubumbashi. The Cathedral building that we currently use as the Day Centre is not ideal in many ways, so there is a pressing need for a new purpose-built Day Centre. 

The cost to build the new Day Centre is quite high, so we are seeking grants to supplement the donations that we receive and we are hopeful of making a start with the building later this year. It was encouraging to see the recent Christmas celebrations at the Day Centre. Kimbilio wanted the street children to participate in the joy of Christmas and a special Christmas meal was provided, followed by games and presents. You can see from the above photo how crowded the room is!
