Provide an education for needy Kenyan children

A few years ago, a woman arrived at JWHS with a story of widowhood, and mothering her grandchildren.  We met John.  He had on clothes that would have fit him a year ago, ripped, torn and tired he shyly stood by his grandmother.  He needed a uniform and shoes before he would be allowed to return to school. 

Now several years later, a new uniform, shoes and supplies every year, this year he in addition to  his uniform, he received a blanket, and a solar light to make study at night possible.  This year, his grandmother grabbed a Jembe, (hoe) and turned over a good portion of our garden in thanks. 

Progress all around.  I am privileged to be the hands to extend our donors love and concern. Thank you for making it possible.

Meet Shubian. Shubian is 16 years old and desires to go to high school. She is an orphan. Her father had three wives. Her mother died and she was living with the last remaining wife of her father. She recently moved to live with her sister who has two children of her own and three more related children. Shubian performed well in her Class 8 examination which determines which high schools will accept a student. She hopes to raise enough funds to get into high school next week!

 Expanding Opportunities has promised $60.00 from this project on Global Giving be sent directly to the High School towards the almost $500.00 she needs for her first year of high school.
