Our youth celebrated their first Labor Day

Dear friends,

Last May 1st, we celebrated Labor Day in many countries all over the world.

Work is:

- one of the areas through which we grow, and we develop as people and citizens.

- the activity in which the majority of human beings invest a large part of our time and energy.

- the entrance to economic independence, to meet needs such as food, housing, health, education, entertainment, etc.

- part of our identity: "I am a bricklayer", "I am a chef", "I am a teacher".

- organizer of a large part of our day and our life project.

- a space for participation in social life

During this current year, 50 of our youth already got their first job and was able to celebrate their first Labour Day. It fills us with pride and happiness to see them grow and make their own way and we are convinced that it is through education and work that we will achieve that our young people and their families can escape poverty. These 38 young people today have a new and better life.

2018 Final Report

Dear friend,

Through this report we want to share with you our annual results, from which we are very proud:

During 2018:

2615 young people from 92 locations in 19 provinces of Argentina were part of the Cimientos Graduates Network Team and were advised on training, employment, volunteering and study opportunities.

437 young people finished the high school course and were advised to define their life project once they graduated.
769 were trained through orientation courses for job search and specific knowledge.
40 studied with university and / or tertiary scholarships and 1 obtained graduation.
85 found work thanks to the actions carried out by Graduates Network.
41 graduates were volunteers from Cimientos.
There were 7 meetings of graduates attended by a total of 299 young people.
76 companies or organizations offered job opportunities or trainings to Cimientos´ young people.
The implementation of the project "Training for young employment" was continued with the support of J.P.Morgan up to May 2018. 184 young people were trained in specific knowledge such as: administrative assistant, programming and web design with support of different companies. They also received soft skills training on hands of Cimientos professional team.
Cimientos worked hard with job intermediation so as to facilitate and help the trained young people to obtain a job opportunity. As a result, 72 obtained a formal job and 36 continued university/tertiary studies.
Other important projects took place during this year which impacted in 200 young people: "Jóvenes con Futuro" with BAF in Rosario. “Formando Futuro” with GA´s support and the mentoring program, "Somos Acción”, together with Natura.

We really want to keep up the good work experienced through 2018, hoping 2019 brings more and better opportunities.

You believe in them, they create future

Dear friends,

We have wonderful news to share with you! Next Tuesday November 27^th, Globalgiving is holding their #GivingTuesday campaign and will be releasing $150,000 in matching funds and 30 bonus prizes (ranging from $3,000 to $100) over a 24-hour period that day. If you want to make a good deed after Thanksgiving and before the next celebrations, please donate to our project on Tuesday so that we can enlarge our funds and help more Argentine Youth escape poverty!

As we all recover from our Thanksgiving food comas and prepare for the next celebrations, my hope is that we still keep why we're thankful in the forefront of our minds. Many of us are blessed with loving families, thoughtful friends and bountiful food over these holidays, and for that we are all incredibly lucky. For that, I for one am incredibly grateful.

Others, like Cimientos' students, don't have the same support system that we do, and need a little more help than the rest of us to just get by. The personalized mentoring Cimientos´ Graduates Network provides gives students that added push they need in the right direction, helping them reach for their dreams and gain the confidence and vital tools they need to succeed both personally and professionally.

This year is almost coming to an end and in Cimientos we have plenty of things to give thanks for... As we share with you on our last report, next December 442 low- income youth from 15 provinces are finishing high school thanks to Cimientos scholarships and mentorings!

December is also a special month because all over the world people celebrate Christmas and New Year and like to give special presents to their beloved ones. If you give a gift card of our project as a present or make a donation between Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 and Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, Globalgiving could also donate extra money! Together, we can help the students who need us most with vital job and training opportunities, and give them a great reason to be thankful this holiday´ seasons.

Together, we can help the students change their life in an incredibly meaningful way, for the better.
