Graduates Network - Annual Results

Virtual Training

Dear friends,

Undoubtedly 2020 was a very challenging year for the whole world and Fundación Cimientos was not the exception. Our team worked very hard so as to hold all of our programs and actions and continue with the accompaniment of Argentinian vulnerable youth in order to bring them more and better opportunities for their future.

The compulsory quarantine disposed by Argentinian government since March 2020 led us to necessarily review the way we work with young boys and girls who are part of Cimientos´ Graduates Network and participate of the different activities we carry forward with our programs.

We had to set up new challenges and objectives and adapt all of our actions to a virtual modality so as to fulfilling and comply with the commitments assumed with both, our youth and our partners. Well aware of this, we were able to go ahead with all of our planned activities and find new opportunities in the adversity.

We are very pleased to share with you our annual results regarding our project Give Argentine Youth a Chance:

*3296 young boys and girls, from 19 provinces, were assisted with training and job opportunities.

*504 students finished high school during 2020 and were assisted to work on their “life project”.

*2265 participants of our Graduates Network received training.

*We developed 8 training courses oriented to job search in alliance with highly recognized companies.

*92 young boys and girls studied with University scholarships and 2 obtained their graduation.

*61 beneficiaries obtained formal jobs thanks to the intermediation of our Graduates Network.

*11 young boys and girls, participants of our Graduates Network, were volunteers of Cimientos.

*For the first time, in 2020, we organized two National Virtual Meetings and 10 webinars with the participation of more than 1000 young boys and girls from all the country.

*104 organizations/companies offered job opportunities to our youth through Cimientos´Graduates Network.

*441 volunteers from 60 companies and organizations participated from different activities related to training and orientation for young boys and girls. They donated 1546 hours of volunteering.

*A mobile app, which will be launched during 2021, was developed. It aims to enhance our work and communication with young participants of our Program.

For many young boys and girls (who are part of Cimientos´Graduates Network), the possibility of being part of our trainings and courses not only favored their knowledge and learning but it also implied the opportunity of meeting and keeping in contact with others who were going through the same situations. This aspect was highly valued in the satisfaction survey we performed.

Another important matter to mention was the fact that, through virtuality we could reach with our webinars and National Meetings, many young boys and girls from different Argentinian provinces who had not had so much offer before.

2020 was, without no doubt, a very challenging year for Cimientos and for the Graduates Network. It was a year of great learning, innovation and growth which opened new opportunities in our way of working with young boys and girls who need us.

It was thanks to your support and all of our donors that we could keep up with our work and continue accompanying Argentina´s most vulnerable youth so that they can build a better future. We are truly grateful for your kind commitment to Cimientos and hope you renew your support for this difficult year.

Working through adversity

Dear friends,

Argentina is still in quarantine since March and most surely schools and universities will not be able to open their doors until next year. This setback and the whole socio economic context the country is facing will have worrying consequences in our society. Poverty already reached 40% and families that were considered poor are today indigent.

On our last report, we shared information about our hard work during these difficult days we are all living. Cimientos´ team is working from the very beginning of the quarantine in order to continue accompanying young boys and girls and their families when they need it the most. Tutors and mentors are staying in touch by phone or using virtual platforms, adapting the different mentoring strategies so that youth can keep up with their schooling, as well as to bring training and employment opportunities to youth.

On July, we also held our first Virtual National Youth Meeting with more than 500 participants from 17 different provinces. You can watch a brief summary of those enriching days in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ft0mZ1Gv5s&feature=youtu.be

As we have mentioned previously, we organized virtual workshops, personalized mentoring, training courses and even obtained a donation for Internet data to almost 100 young boys and girls who couldn´t connect to their virtual school and university activities due to the lack of Internet in their households.

During October and November we will carry out training courses oriented to “employment” for 150 young boys and girls. These trainings will be developed in alliance with companies such as: KPMG, JP Morgan, Andreani, Quilmes, Mercedes Benz, Accenture, Mercado Libre y BBVA.

We will also develop two webinars together with Mc. Donald´s and a volunteer who is ontological coach and, furthermore, we will be working on a program with Grupo ASSA that will accompany students who are about to finish high school in the definition of their “life project”. We estimate 130 participants in these activities.

At the end of the year, we will work on our last Virtual National Youth Meeting destined to provide job orientation. The event will be developed together with other 5 organizations and we estimate the participation of 1.000 young boys and girls from all provinces of the country.

Your kind support will allow us to continue working as hard as we have done so far and will allow us to develop these activities for our young participants who are needing our presence more than ever.

Accompanying our youth during COVID

Youth opinion about Vocational guidance workshops

Dear friends,

The last three months have been really challenging, not only for us but for the entire world. Argentina is in quarantine since March 20th. Our Graduates Network had organized our first workshop for that day. We were expecting around 40 youngsters from different localities but we had to put off every face-to-face activity since then.

By the end of March, we decided to take a survey to our youth to learn how they were dealing with this new situation and how Cimientos could help them with their educational and employment paths. Thanks to our Evaluation team, who analyzed more than a thousand surveys in just a week of hard work, we found out that only 30% of our youth had notebooks or tablets to put up with shool and university homework and online clases and the rest of them only use cell phones. They asked for help in job search, remote study, online courses and some of them even solicitated Internet data to be able to do these activities.

In this report you can see some pictures of our first webinars and workshops that took place in May. Vocational guidance and learning to study remotely were some of our topics. We also held some personalized mentorings because some youth needed extra help in this difficult time and thanks to this they were able to prepare their Curriculum vitae and start seeking for a job, sign up for different virtual workshops and even graduate for school after preparing a final exam with our orientarion.

In June we will start donating Internet data to some youth so that they don´t miss their lessons and activities. We have also organized a virtual program to acccompany 72 youth from all over Argentina in defining their life project during their last high school year that will start in June 10th. For those who already graduated from school and are seeking for a job, next week we will start a soft skills and administrative assistant virtual course organized along with KPMG firm for 30 youth.
