Introduction
As we embark on the 2026 program year, the Jasiri Teen Girls Bootcamp has transitioned from a pilot-focused initiative to a structured, peer-led movement. Following the successful graduation of our inaugural cohort and the establishment of the "Jasiri Club Toolkit" in late 2025, our focus this quarter has been on operational stability and scaling peer leadership. We continue our core mission to empower rural girls in Nyamira County, now leveraging our trained peer mentors to drive engagement across our five established school-based clubs.
Achievements (January - March 2026)
Peer-Led Operational Launch: Successfully transitioned day-to-day club management to the 10 trained peer mentors. All 5 Jasiri Clubs have resumed weekly sessions, focusing on the 2026 leadership curriculum.
Strategic Curriculum Rollout: Implemented the new "Jasiri Club Toolkit" across all active schools, ensuring standardized delivery of sessions on digital literacy, SRHR, and advocacy.
Strengthened Tech Partnerships: Initiated the first of the quarterly digital literacy workshops in partnership with our local tech hub partner, providing participants with foundational computer skills.
Community Advocacy Continuity: Conducted two community "Champions for Girls" forums, focusing on sensitizing parents and local leadership on the importance of sustaining girls' education during the new academic term.
Challenges
Persistent Funding Gap: The carry-over shortfall from 2025 remains a critical constraint. Current funds are prioritized for core operations, limiting our ability to procure additional learning materials and sanitary kits for new club members.
Resource Distribution: Balancing the demand for resources across 5 active schools with limited operational budget requires strict prioritization and ongoing logistical coordination.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Scaling data collection to track the progress of over 100+ club members requires more robust digital tracking tools, which are currently being developed.
Impact & Outreach
While this quarter focused on internal consolidation, the impact remains visible through:
Retention: 100% of the 5 Jasiri Clubs have reported consistent attendance for the start of the 2026 term.
Peer Mentorship: The 10 peer mentors have successfully facilitated 12 independent sessions, demonstrating high levels of confidence and program ownership.
Community Sentiment: Initial feedback from school administrators indicates increased participation in school activities by club members compared to the previous year.
Next Steps
Resource Mobilization: Launching a targeted fundraising campaign focused on acquiring "back-to-school" kits (sanitary supplies and stationery) for the girls.
Scaling Digital Literacy: Partnering with the tech hub to host a mid-quarter intensive workshop focusing on online safety and basic research skills.
Monitoring System Activation: Fully deploying the new digital tracking system to monitor member retention and impact stories across all schools.
Strategic Partnership Outreach: Engaging with potential corporate sponsors for the mid-year symposium.
Conclusion
The first quarter of 2026 has validated our model of peer-led sustainability. By empowering the girls to lead their own clubs, we have created a resilient structure that functions even amidst financial limitations. As we look toward Q2, our primary goal remains bridging the funding gap to ensure that no girl is left behind due to a lack of basic scholastic resources.
