Inzonzi Kolakita is a community-based peer mentorship initiative that supports girls, teenage mothers and other vulnerable young people through mentorship, counselling, psychosocial support, education engagement and livelihood-related activities.
The programme continues to provide a platform where girls and young women can receive encouragement, share experiences and access support aimed at improving their wellbeing, education and participation in community development.
This report covers the period July to September 2026.
1. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN DURING THE QUARTER
During the reporting quarter, no major new programme activities were conducted under Inzonzi Kolakita. The programme remained under follow-up and monitoring, with the situation known to the programme supervisor.
Existing programme information and previous interventions continued to provide the basis for follow-up with beneficiaries and consideration of future activities.
2. PROGRESS FROM PREVIOUS PROGRAMME INTERVENTIONS
Inzonzi Kolakita has previously reached vulnerable girls and young people through peer mentorship, psychosocial support and education-related engagement.
Previous programme interventions included support to girls and teenage mothers, counselling, education encouragement and livelihood initiatives. These interventions established a foundation for continued engagement with vulnerable young people within the community.
The programme also previously supported livelihood activities, including poultry keeping and tailoring, as part of efforts to strengthen self-reliance among participating girls and young women.
3. ACHIEVEMENTS
Continuation of the programme framework: The existing peer mentorship and support structure remained available for future engagement.
Established community relationships: Previous engagement with girls, teenage mothers and community members created a foundation for future programme activities.
Existing livelihood experience: Previous poultry and tailoring initiatives provided practical experience that can inform future livelihood programming.
Programme visibility: Previous awareness and community engagement activities contributed to recognition of Inzonzi Kolakita's focus on supporting vulnerable girls and young women.
4. CHALLENGES
The main challenge during the quarter was the limited implementation of new programme activities.
Other challenges included limited resources for programme implementation, difficulty maintaining regular activities without adequate operational support, the need for continued follow-up of beneficiaries, the need for additional support for livelihood activities, and limited opportunities for regular community engagement during the quarter.
5. LESSONS LEARNT
Maintaining regular communication with beneficiaries remains important even when major activities are not taking place.
Activities should be planned according to available resources.
Documentation and follow-up of programme activities should be strengthened.
Partnerships that can support continuity of programmes for vulnerable girls and young women are important.
Future activities should have clear objectives, target beneficiaries and measurable outcomes.
6. RECOMMENDATIONS
Develop a clear activity plan for the next quarter.
Strengthen resource mobilisation for Inzonzi Kolakita activities.
Continue follow-up and communication with existing beneficiaries.
Strengthen partnerships with organisations that support girls, teenage mothers and vulnerable young people.
Provide additional support for livelihood initiatives such as poultry and tailoring.
Improve documentation of activities, beneficiary participation and outcomes.
Conduct regular supervisory follow-up to guide programme implementation.
7. CONCLUSION
During the July–September 2026 reporting period, no major new activities were conducted under Inzonzi Kolakita. However, the programme's previous interventions and established support structures remain a foundation for future engagement.
Moving forward, emphasis should be placed on developing a realistic activity plan, mobilising resources and strengthening follow-up so that the programme can continue supporting girls, teenage mothers and other vulnerable young people in the community.
