Civic Force is responding to the earthquake that struck Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan on January 1, 2024. A magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred in the Sea of Japan near the Noto Peninsula causing massive damages in the area and triggering a tsunami warning. Civic Force has deployed a search-and-rescue team, is conducting needs assessments on the ground, and providing relief items. This project aims to find victims in the rubble and provide relief items and services to the survivors and evacuees.
Search-and rescue (SAR) operations are ongoing as rescuers are rushing to find victims stuck in the rubble. In addition to the typical SAR challenges, access to various affected areas is limited due to ruptures in the roads. Hospitals are at risk of overflow as injured people head there for treatment. People at evacuation centers require food, water, and supplies.
Civic Force 's SAR team has rescued an elderly woman from the rubble and provided medical treatment. The team continues to search for survivors. Civic Force's medical team has established a mobile clinic at an evacuation center to allow quick treatment and to provide relief to hospitals treating severe injuries. Needs assessments are ongoing to ascertain what emergency supplies/services are needed at which locations.
This project will save lives and provide items/supplies that evacuees need at this moment and in the near future.
