Summary

This project aims to strengthen the economic resilience of 1,000 rural women by providing them with resources and training to rear country chickens. The initiative supports both income generation and nutrition, helping reduce malnutrition and anemia among children, adolescent girls, and women by increasing access to affordable, high-protein food such as eggs and meat. It improves family health while creating a sustainable livelihood asset for each household.

Challenge

Rural women from socially and economically marginalized families face multiple, interlinked challenges. Poverty, lack of land, and limited livelihood options restrict their ability to earn a stable income. Many belong to socially excluded communities, where social discrimination further limits access to opportunities and support systems. Malnutrition and anemia are widespread among women, adolescent girls, and children, largely due to poor access to affordable, protein-rich foods.

Solution

This project provides 1,000 rural women with 30 country chickens each, along with training and support, enabling them to earn income from eggs and poultry sales. This creates a reliable livelihood, reduces dependence on unstable labour, and improves family nutrition through regular access to protein-rich food. The model builds economic resilience, food security, and dignity for vulnerable women and their families.

Long-Term Impact

This project enables women to build sustainable income from country chicken rearing, leading to lasting financial stability and reduced dependence on unstable labor. Families gain regular access to protein-rich food, improving nutrition and reducing anemia. Over time, women become economically empowered, strengthen household resilience, and inspire other women in their communities. As successful women become role models, the initiative fosters community-level change-encouraging other women.
