The Indonesian National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) through the BAZNAS Disaster Response (BTB) program proactively provided quick solutions to help flood survivors in Sukamaju Village, Cikembar District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. The assistance included a food bank and clean water to ease the burden on survivors. BAZNAS provides 5,000 fast food packages for the community every day. In addition, clean water kitchens have been set up to ensure the availability of clean water, which is indispensable for disaster victims. BAZNAS invites all people to continue praying and sharing their concern for disaster survivors
“Praise God, BAZNAS today began operating the Food Bank public kitchen and clean water kitchen at the disaster site in Sukabumi. Previously, the team had also cleaned the mosque and residents' houses,” said the Head of BAZNAS RI for Distribution and Utilization, Hj. Saidah Sakwan, MA., in a written statement last weekend.
Saidah stated that the public kitchen was established with the aim of meeting the urgent food needs of residents affected by the floods. Every day, this public kitchen provides 5,000 ready-to-eat food packages for the community. In addition, a clean water kitchen was set up to ensure the availability of clean water, which is very much needed by disaster victims.
“The food prepared in the soup kitchen is not only served on site, but also distributed to other affected villages. We want to make sure that this food aid reaches as many survivors as possible who need it,” he added.
The presence of soup kitchens and clean water kitchens is expected to provide a meaningful temporary solution for the victims. Currently, adequate food needs are a top priority to ease the burden on the people of Sukabumi who are facing difficult times.
“In a situation like this, it is important for us to be present to provide real and effective assistance. Hopefully, this food intake and water kitchen assistance can help ease the burden of emergency needs for the disaster-affected communities in Sukabumi,” hoped Saidah.
Saidah also emphasized the importance of collaboration for the success of the initiative. Therefore, she continued, BAZNAS would like to thank the volunteers, the local community, and the muzaki (taxpayers) who have contributed to helping our brothers and sisters in Sukabumi. Hopefully, this synergy will continue for the common good.
