2nd Report June 2019
As we have already communicated, our community is located in a mountain area that was shaken strongly by the earthquakes suffering heavy damage. This is how we prepare an action plan that we have been carrying out, and with the support of GlobalGiving and other partners we have advanced first in recognizing the situations that make us vulnerable in order to progress in reducing risks.
During the first period we received orientation to make a risk map and training for the installation of wood-burning stoves and ecological toilets with bio-digester, which helps us to take care of health and the environment.
In this second period we have tried to carry out the work plan, practicing the construction of firewood stoves and ecological baths. It is a new technology for us, which means changing habits of consumption and life, for example, so that the bathrooms work well, it is necessary to reduce the use of chlorines and detergents, we are trying because we know it is for the best.
We started with the installation of backyard gardens, re-learning to know and improve our soils, picking up the plants that have traditionally fed us and knowing new ones. We have counted with advice for the production of fertilizers and pest control that have been appearing. It is a topic of great interest for us, the family participates and we eat better. In this issue, we hope to advance by expanding the work surface and later count on materials to protect the small garden, such as the microtuneles and the fence.
We have had the support of the CODICE team to generate participation in the prevention of risks, management of technologies and in the creation of spaces for reflection on one of the issues that most afflict us, which is violence against women. For this we have participated in a workshop on women's rights and we will continue with this topic because violence and inequality make us a vulnerable society.
