Summer 2025 Indian Borewell Restorations Project

Gender equity is the process of being fair to women and men. To ensure fairness, measures must often be available to compensate for historical and social disadvantages that prevent women and men from otherwise operating on a level playing field. Equity leads to equality.
Water in India has been used as an instrument for social suppression and establishing power. Women, particularly from the economically weaker Tribal Dalits suffer the most due to discriminatory access to drinking water. Women’s voices may not be heard as men are historically the community leaders.
Gender equity is automatically established through our water projects and the attitudes shift from ones where water collection is only women’s work. Our projects provide safe drinking water to all, and men are made aware that both men and women should jointly participate in water collection. Achieving gender equality does not mean that women become the same as men. Equality means that one's rights or opportunities do not depend on being male or female.

Health Worker Teaches Sanitation
Over the past three months, Bridgit Water Foundation has made significant strides in expanding access to clean water and sanitation across underserved communities. With the support of our generous donors, we successfully completed two boreholes in rural India, providing reliable water access to over 2,600 people. Our local partners have also been instrumental in delivering community hygiene training, which complements the infrastructure improvements and helps reduce waterborne illnesses.
In addition to on-the-ground project delivery, this quarter we focused on enhancing our monitoring and evaluation systems. We implemented new tools to better track project impact and community engagement, and we’ve begun incorporating feedback from ACFID-aligned frameworks to ensure greater transparency and inclusion. These improvements allow us to better measure long-term outcomes, identify barriers to access—particularly for women and people with disabilities—and adapt our strategies to address them effectively.
We are proud to report that your continued support not only helps build essential infrastructure, but also empowers communities to manage their own water resources sustainably. These efforts strengthen our partnerships on the ground by increasing trust within the communities we serve. Your ongoing support as a GlobalGiving donor is critical to this process—it enables us to put these standards into practice and build water projects that last. Thank you for standing with us as we align our work with globally recognised best practices for development impact. Thank you for being a part of our journey toward water equity for all.

Fall 2024 Indian Borewell Restorations Project

BridgIT Water Foundation continues its work in rural Andhra Pradesh, India with 4 water well restorations during the Fall, 2024. It is fortunate that BridgIT has multiple funding sources for times when fundraising on GlobalGiving is not sufficient to restore broken wells, as was the case during the past quarter.
Little Ripples is a socially responsible Australian wine brand that provides 1 person with water for 1 year for each bottle sold. During the past quarter, Little Ripples’ “wine to water” initiative was able to fund 4 water well restorations in BridgIT’s Andhra Pradesh program. Check Little Ripples’ “Cause” page at: https://www.littleripples.com/pages/our-cause and watch the interview with Wendy Tisdell, BridgIT’s Founding Director.
BridgIT has a goal this year to create new partnerships with social entrepreneurs and companies dedicated to social responsibility, like Little Ripples. We are grateful to our supporters to help reach this goal by sharing companies and contacts that you think will help build safe, clean water systems in the developing world. Please reach out to us at bridgitwaterusa at gmail. Thank you.
