Strengthening the bond with our partners

By Margarita Pilier | Project Coordinator

Dear Donor, please receive a warm greeting. As you know, we started this fundraiser to provide a quality health center to the disabled children of the deprived communities of the La Altagracia province and your contribution helps us get one step closer to our goal.

We truly appreciate your support !

The center began in 2019 as a response to the 10% of children under the age of 12 in the eastern region with special needs such as Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.

Currently, the neurodevelopmental disorders treated at the CEDI are: autism, down syndrome, behavioral disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders associated with a medical condition (epilepsy, malnutrition and genetics), psychomotor retardation, cerebral palsy, learning disorders, emotional disorders and /or mental, intellectual disability and communication disorders, among others.

The most common medical cases are autism, cerebral palsy, psychomotor retardation, phonological disorders, neurodevelopmental disorder.

From July 2024 to date more than 4,000 patients (0-15 years) have been treated.

An innovative, warm and quality medical service for patients with disabilities are one of the main objectives of the center. Following the guidelines of our strategic management, we recently carried out a cycle of workshops taught by specialists from our partner entity Akron Children' 's Hospital, in which the staff of the center had the opportunity to update their knowledge and skills in the areas of physical therapy, speech therapy and neuropsychological tests. At the same time the specialists treated some patients.

A talk was also held with the attendance of community members in order to continue announcing the services offered by the center, the achievements and the challenges

 Please see the pictures attached

There are still many needs to meet in terms of equipment (for example video-electroencephalogram, electric treadmill, medical software for the comprehensive management of the center, others), staff training and supplies. We look forward to continue partnering with you in order to get these goals together

We will keep you informed about the progress of the project. If you have any comment, advice or question, please feel free to direct them to us and we will answer as best we can.

There is no way to fully express our gratitude for your support

Best wishes,
