In July we shared with you that following our successful GlobalGiving fundraising campaign in June, we are planning to travel to Liberia to launch a pilot for the cookstove project. Liberia will be conducting its presidential and legislative elections on October 10th to be followed by a run-off for the presidential contest if a single candidate out of the 20 contestants doesn't get 51% of the votes. Based on the recent past elections, it's likely that a run-off will take place in November.
Due to these political events taking place in Liberia, the trip to Liberia has been scheduled for early 2018. Recently, we shipped a welding machine and accessories to Liberia to use in fabricating the rocket stoves for the pilot project in early 2018. With anticipation, we look forward to launching the improved cookstoves as our third project in Liberia following the launch of the road sign and solar lantern projects.
