Ramadan is a time of reflection and compassion. While many gather with loved ones to break their fast, countless inmates in Ghana's prisons are often forgotten, struggling with inadequate meals and isolation. For the past five years, IFTAR WITH INMATES has provided hot, nourishing meals every evening for 30 days during Ramadan, ensuring that inmates, regardless of their faith, can break their fast with dignity. Together, we can make a difference. Join us in spreading kindness this Ramadan.
Inmates in Ghana's prisons are often overlooked, especially during Ramadan, a sacred time for reflection and renewal. Many lack access to the essential resources needed to observe the fast properly, including nutritious meals for suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and iftar (meal to break the fast). Due to these, some inmates are forced to skip fasting altogether. The absence of adequate food and spiritual support makes Ramadan even more challenging for them, further deepening their sense of isolation.
IFTAR WITH INMATES is committed to ensuring that 100 inmates have the opportunity to observe Ramadan with dignity. By providing hot, nutritious meals for suhoor and iftar throughout the 30 days, we help alleviate the physical burden of fasting. Alongside the meals, we share messages of hope, faith, and encouragement, fostering a sense of belonging and emotional well-being. This initiative not only nourishes the body but also uplifts the spirit, reminding inmates that they are not forgotten.
Beyond providing immediate relief, this project fosters rehabilitation, hope, and positive transformation within the prison system. By addressing both the physical and emotional needs of inmates during Ramadan, we encourage self-reflection, spiritual growth, and a renewed sense of purpose. Acts of kindness and inclusion can inspire long-term behavioral change, easing reintegration into society Through this initiative, we plant the seeds for a more humane and supportive correctional system.
