In May 2025, APLAFA completed the Maternal and Infant Care in Panama Project, impacting 18 women and their babies, with more than 327 health service, in four provinces of Panama, with a special focus on Afro-descendant and indigenous populations. This achievement is just the beginning.
Starting this month, we have restructured the initiative to address new needs, expanding our health services while continuing to prioritize maternal and child care. With the new project "I Decide: Family Planning for All," APLAFA will offer obstetric and pediatric care, as well as specialized gynecological services and long-acting contraceptives for vulnerable women. We are also including care for men, with urology consultations and vasectomies, recognizing that family planning is a shared responsibility.
This new approach will allow APLAFA to expand its impact in communities by providing women and men with the necessary tools to make informed decisions about their reproductive health, while supporting pregnant women every step of the way.
