APLAFA's Maternal and Infant Care Project continues to impact the lives of women in Panama. From its inception to the present day, we have successfully benefited 13 women directly and a total of 32 individuals indirectly. These individuals come from socially vulnerable areas, facing poverty and difficulties in accessing education and comprehensive healthcare.
Most of the women benefiting from the program have multiple children and a secondary level of education. APLAFA's Project provides them with the opportunity for safe pregnancies and, upon completion, the option of long-lasting contraception to help them strengthen their life goals.
Through the Maternal and Infant Care Project, APLAFA has assisted women from four provinces in the country: Chiriquí, Veraguas, Colón, and Panama Oeste. We offer healthcare and support to pregnant women, covering their laboratory expenses, all prenatal check-up appointments, and in some cases, nutritional care. Once the babies are born, they receive pediatric care and early stimulation for three months.
APLAFA is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that has been operating since 1965 with the mission of contributing to improving the quality of life for the population of the Republic of Panama. We provide excellent sexual and reproductive health education and services, advocating for and promoting sexual and reproductive rights.
We encourage you to continue supporting APLAFA to help fulfill its vision of creating a country where sexual and reproductive health is accessible to all individuals, especially women.
