Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund

Your donations are helping communities across Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba restore their livelihoods, feed their families, and prepare their communities for a storm resilient future. 

Since our last report, your donation has helped fund seven new grants to trusted, community-led partners providing care, relief, and support on the ground in the Caribbean. Here are a few of the vital efforts you have made possible:

• Jamaican Network of Rural Women Producers (JNRWP) has helped connect over 1,000 women farmers and rural households to emergency assistance, cash transfers, agricultural inputs, disaster preparedness resources, and livelihood support. JNRWP is currently supporting agricultural recovery through seed distribution, climate adaptation training, water storage initiatives, irrigation improvements, and enrollment of women farmers in risk financing and insurance programs. Beyond agriculture, the organization works to strengthen community leadership, data collection, and economic opportunities for rural women, many of whom are heads of household and primary providers for their families. 
• White River Marine Association quickly mobilized resources to support severely impacted fishing communities and fish sanctuaries in Jamaica in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane. As recovery has progressed, the organization has shifted its focus toward strengthening environmental resilience through coral reef restoration, mangrove protection, and innovative coastal protection strategies designed to reduce future storm impacts. 
• First Hand Aid is continuing to distribute food items, critical medication, and rechargeable batteries to communities in Cuba who remain isolated from the storm damage. First Hand Aid mobilizes dedicated volunteers to hand-deliver these essential items.
